Easy to digest best practices and landscape summary book

If you are not sure where to begin with APIs, or you are having trouble putting all the pieces together in planning an API specification, then this book will help you a lot. It also acts as a launchpad, directing you out to various tools and services on the internet that can assist you in creating and managing an API specification. The main tool used here is the RAML (RESTful API Modeling Language) specification.

The subject matter is delivered fluidly, making this book an easy read. There are many instances where topics are repeated in different verbiage, but for the most part I felt this was helpful to solidify the knowledge.

What the book is lacking in is granular details, or other various "gotchas" when it comes to writing and maintaining actual code projects. While it does give solid advice and best practices, these were not enough for me to feel comfortable jumping directly into writing a RAML representation for my own API. There simply wasn't enough "code walkthrough" for me to get started directly from this book.

Overall, this is a good place to start. It is a best practices and landscape summary book. It will get you thinking in the right direction.

Hey, I am not complaining the content, but I the kindle version is mediocre. It seems like a pdf version instead of epub. The resolution of the figure is low and blur. I would not recommend Kindle version until they get the book full converted.

I don't want to type a long review, but I did want to point out a few things about this book. It is not an autobiography. It is Corey Taylor's opinions on the seven deadly sins. There are quite a few anecdotes of his life, but they are there mainly to prove that Corey has the knowledge/experience to write about each particular sin. Having said that, I found this book to be both funny and insightful. He really writes so everyone can understand him, and get thouroughly into his story. We all know Corey can write moving songs, but who knew he could do the same in a book? I truly enjoyed reading this.

I've always liked Corey's humor and his world view is a lot like mine (I have to say it's like mine as I am older - LOL!). This book is poignant, if you ask me, and made me laugh out loud several, hell LOTS, of times! I'm glad that my thoughts and views are finally in print! :o) Great job and highly recommend it!

I absolutely love this book. Read the whole thing in just a few days. I could not possibly have had a different childhood & life experiences than Corey Taylor & yet I agree w/ almost everything he wrote in this book. Don't let the rockstar persona fool you. He is one intelligent, critical thinker & a damn good writer to boot.

I liked reading about a couple finding they way and exploring the power dynamic's of their relationship. It was a nice change not to read a femdom book with a ball-busting 'top'. That's not to say Amy didn't put her man (can't recall his name, if it was even mentioned) through his paces.

Plenty of guy on girl oral, and wrist restraints.

The story is well edited, as in not full of grammatical errors/typo's. However there's a heck of a lot of telling going on.

This story was good as it was told in the eyes of the sub. The husband didn't even have a name besides *itch boy. :) This story is of a wife and husband doing some exploratory fun in the bedroom that included him being humiliated and degraded. It is the beginning of a series and so it is a teaser of better things to come. If you are looking for something quick, light, but arousing and you like stories with humiliation, then this would be a good starter. It is worth the read.

Sweet, Short, and Sexy

Even though it's short Tina always manages to pull me in with her writing. I loved Claire and Jake. They both travel somewhere that is suppose to fulfill there wish or hearts desire. A springs that's suppose to have powers. But it's the sacrifice that makes the springs have the effect. Claire is dying and Jake is tired of being a creature of the night with no one to share it with. The two meet and sparks fly. He offers Claire something that can change her life forever but will she take it?

We get a "small" appearance from Gabriel, Zane (my favorite smart a@@) and Amaury. I would of loved a bit more of Jake's past along with Claire but it was still sooooooooooo good that I was left with a big smile on my face. Now just have to wait patiently till January for Blake's Pursuit.

Fate brings two people together to grant their true wishes. Short but a very seeet love story

This is a sweet short novelle that makes you feel warm and happy inside. Jake comes to the island in search of the water that will grant his wish to become mortal again. While there his first night he meets Claire. She is there to drink the water to grant her wish to live instead of perishing from brain cancer. Will heir wishes be granted? Sorry no spoilers from me. Habe a fan near bexause the sex is hot. You also catch a little time with Zane and Amaury. it is a quick read that will hold us over until January when her next full length novel comes out. t

Heart-warming tale!

This is great if you want a complete story but only have a very short time to read. Fabulous! It was heart warming to see Jake find both love and a purpose in life. Of course like every short story you do not get to know the characters and their pasts as intimately as you do in a full-length novel but that is the trade off for a quick finish. It was super fun to see Gabriel, Amaury, and Zane at the end. I am looking forward to Blake's story in January. Tina Folsom definitely entertains me every time!

the best introduction to Donaldson's gauge theory, even if it is outdated

Gauge theory as a field for study by mathematicians, and in particular, topologists, was initiated by Donaldson's proof, which is the content of this book, that the only simply connected smooth closed 4-manifolds with definite intersection form are connected sums of complex projective planes (with the factors having either orientation). This was the first major advance in 4-manifold smooth topology beyond Rohlin's theorem on the signature of a smooth spin 4-manifold and the Kirby-Siebenmann obstruction. Donaldson's theorem was followed by many other related results, in particular, the discovery of the Donaldson polynomial invariants and various gluing and vanishing theorems, none of which appear in this early book, so this work is not suitable as a comprehensive reference for the theory. But it is still essential for a student wishing to learn gauge theory because of the extensive coverage of the requisite analysis, topology, and geometry that one needs to work in this field (or even read any later works). The authors endeavor to explain intuitively the motivation behind the different steps in this long proof (it takes more than 100 pages to prove the theorem), with some effective figures included as well.

Donaldson's proof is based on studying the moduli space of certain (anti-self-dual) solutions (mod gauge equivalences) of the Yang-Mills equations, the most fundamental equation in particle physics, which includes the vacuum Maxwell equations of electromagnetics, as well as those of QED and QCD, as special cases. For the SU(2) case over a smooth simply connected compact 4-manifold, the moduli space can be shown to be nonempty, orientable, smooth except for a finite number of points, near which the moduli space is a cone on a projective space, and having one noncompact end that is diffeomorphic to a collar on the original 4-manifold. This establishes a cobordism between the original manifold and a disjoint union of copies of CP^2, which proves the theorem. The various chapters of the book prove each of the aforementioned properties of the moduli spaces, mainly through tedious technical analytic results. Along the way the necessary material concerning bundles, connections, Sobolev spaces, Fredholm operators, index theory, classifying spaces, Bochner-Weitzenboeck formulas, etc., is presented, making this the most accessible gauge-theoretic work for (2nd-year) graduate students.

The second author, Karen Uhlenbeck, was one of the pioneers in the field, deriving several critical analytic results about sequences of solutions to the YM equations that are ubiquitous in gauge theory proofs; the book includes her proof of the famed removable singularities theorem as an appendix. There's also an early section on the construction of fake R^4s, one of the strangest results of 4-manifold topology (although I think Lawson's Theory of Gauge Fields in Four Dimensions does a better job of explaining this, and orientability as well). It is preferable to read the second edition, which includes a brief introduction that sumarizes advances in the field between 1984 and 1991, in addition to having been re-typeset.

A demerit of the book is that it is filled with mathematical typos and many of the technical proofs require some modification in the choice of constants owing to some errors in the inequalities. However, the theorems themselves remain true, as the reader can verify with some effort.
